Free Write Friday: gemini & stress
a couple of poems inspired by the gemini new moon and um... life
and with this new moon
i release you
forgive, but don’t forget
with a graceful gemini heart
summer’s sweet air serenades you
Darling, this is where i found you
hiding in the shadow…
…of the new moon
There’s bite marks on my hand
How did they get there?
It’s a mystery, a small crease, just barely known
Are they remnants from the pain of betrayal?
Or the panic of a deadline that has passed?
Surely, it’s not from a torrid affair
Those were never meant to last
Maybe it’s the stress catching up with me
It’s finally taking its toll
Leaving its marks all over me
More of a vessel than soul
Breathing the life back into me
Remembering there’s more than fight, flight, or freeze
Endings are natural, and change is eternal
What we don’t deal with, the body still sees
My thumb touches the marks tenderly
Another mystery unresolved
But now there’s a plan of action
Another reason to carry on
Share your own “Free Write Friday” and I’ll do my best to share!
What is Free Write Friday? It’s a chance for writers (and non-writers!) to try something new, share a first draft, and get something they wouldn’t normally put out into the world. Plus, I’m a sucker for alliterations.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Curious (if you don't mind sharing): Do you write your poems throughout the week and save them for Fri? Or write them on Fri?
