the weekly rundown 5.28.25 (midweek edition)
weekly intention and card pull, Jem is back, Nathan Fielder's genius, Stay in L.A. letter writing campaign, and more!
Hello! It’s been a minute, but we’re in the throes of summer break (my kiddo) and shooting prep and writing deadlines (me). May is all about endings/beginnings and that has never felt more relevant— my son’s last day of first grade coincided with the first table read for the show I’m working on, which highlighted the full “circle of life” feeling for me.
Hope everyone had a great long weekend! Let’s dive in…
Intention ✨
This week started off with a powerful new moon in Gemini. If you’ve been feeling like a phase is coming to an end… you’re not wrong. This is all about closing old chapters (and wounds) and beginning new phases.
What a joy to pull this card that highlights exactly that!
This week, I let go and release old energy that no longer serves me.

Nostalgia Alert 💖
Jem and the Holograms turns 40 this year (ahem, along with another iconic 1985 baby), and to celebrate Hasbro announced they have re-recorded the songs with original singer Britta Phillips.
For those who do not know— Jem and the Holograms was an animated series in the 80s featuring Pop Princess and feminist icon, Jem! As a kid, I adored her and wanted to be her. As an adult, I’m so excited for the resurgence and am dusting off my feature spec idea 😉
The Rehearsal S2 Finale ✈️
I’ve been a fan of Nathan Fielder since the Nathan for You days. If you haven’t watched this season yet, it is INCREDIBLE— and the finale is unlike anything I’ve ever seen done on TV, with a moment so high-stakes, I was chewing my fingernails.
I also got to hear some behind-the-scenes details, which only makes the feat even more impressive. I can’t wait to see what Nathan does next. Hopefully he takes some time off first, though.
Take Action ‼️
Stay in L.A. is an organization founded by a devoted group of filmmakers who have been trying to keep production in L.A. It was born after the fires as a last-ditch effort to keep industry jobs where most people call home.
They are in the final push for their letter-writing campaign, so if this is an issue that’s near and dear to your heart, please find more information here: Stay in L.A. linktree
For the Kids 🧒
For those of us with kids on summer break, I can’t recommend a “summer workbook” enough! My son is someone who struggles with schoolwork and structure, so this “handy-dandy notebook” helps with some of that (she says on Day 2 😕) The rule: if you want to unlock anything “fun” (aka wifi, screentime, youtube, pool, activity), you need to complete a sheet first.
I got this on sale at Barnes and Noble for $10 and this seems to have a good mix of math, reading, and engaging games (and stickers too!)
Butterfly Update 🐛
We ended up with an extra caterpillar (no idea how that happened!) Unfortunately, our “runt” didn’t make it to his cocoon, so we’ve made a little habitat for him while his/her siblings are cocooned.
Fun fact: they went into their cocoon on the new moon. Neat!

That’s it for this week! Hope everyone has a lovely last week of May. Remember to be kind, but take no sh*t 💗
