Welcome to your mid-week vibe check.
Reading 📖
Still making my way through the sexy and fun “How to End a Love Story”
Started “Burnout” on rec from my therapist.
So many great substack newsletters that I’ve recently subscribed to, but I have to give a shout-out to my friend (and my kid’s BFF’s dad) Mike Daugherity, whose posts about grief are raw, reflective, and beautiful. It’s definitely worth checking out.
Watching 📺
White Lotus (duh)
Severance (season finale this week!)
The Pitt

·If you’re not caught up on White Lotus, Severance, or The Pitt… please come back when you are. Unless you don’t mind spoilers… then carry-on.
My son and I watched Flow last night, and what a stunning piece of art! I was a little nervous about getting my 7-year-old to watch a wordless movie, but he was easily convinced once he saw the capybara and a dog that looked a lot like our dog. Cuddle with the kiddos (or a furry friend and/or loved one) and soak in the beauty of this movie. You won’t regret it.
Eating and Cooking 🧑🍳
Since my son is on spring break, I’m giving myself a break from cooking this week. But, I’m going to try and make veggie and rice bowls tonight. This is the easiest/healthiest mid-week recipe: drizzle veggies you have on hand with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and cook in the oven at 400 until they are their desired crispiness (check after 25 mins). Then, I toss everything with rice, add whatever sauce is on hand… and voila!
NEW SNACK ALERT: I’m always on the lookout for a new snack, and these Sonoma Creamery Pizza Snacks have been my go-to recently. The flavor is amazing, and since it’s cheese, it’s also a good lil protein break.
Writing ✍️
Substack posts (thank you for reading, subscribing, and all the amazing feedback!)
I’m letting the procedural pilot re-break simmer, and I’ll start outlining this week.
Made it through my act one beats for my dramedy feature! I decided to outline this one Hero/Goal sequence style— something I learned in college and haven’t revisited in a meaningful way since. I’m planning to do a whole post about the Hero/Goal Sequence process (if you’d be into that sort of thing!)
Scheduling a manager check-in. For writers with reps (especially lower-level writers), I know it can seem like we’re “bugging” our reps, but it’s important to keep checking in and make it a habit. Consistency continues to be key!
Listening To 🎧
As promised, here’s the playlist I made inspired my last week’s Virgo Blood Moon. Feel free to send over more song suggestions in the chat.
The always-amazing Amy Poehler started a podcast. I haven’t listened yet, but from the screengrabs, I’m in (obviously).

Planning 💭
Big changes. I don’t know about everyone else, but it does feel like there’s a new era upon us and I’m planning accordingly.

Flow was great! Even my 3 and 5 year old sat still for it. Headed over to this playlist, now....
I enjoyed your appearance on the podcast 424 on the alien invasion in 2027. Check out my cousins short film “Frenemies”
