the weekly rundown 6.18.25
we're back with weekly intentions, love island, resources for immigrant communities and allies, a "real" recipe and MORE
“the weekly rundown” is back after a short unplanned hiatus due to life! Hope everyone is doing as well as can be during these continuing unprecedented times. Let’s dive in!
Intention ✨
There’s a lot that’s not in our control right now. Astrologically, things are pretty tame (minus the energy from the full moon last week), but that doesn’t change the fact that Gemini season is a tricky one for a reason.
Someone suggested treating this week like being in the waves… allow yourself to be rocked by the motion, but don’t get caught in the undertow.
This week’s card is “Patience” and boy, do we all need a dose of that right now!
This week, I will let myself flow in the direction life is currently taking me

Love Island 🏝️
So much to discuss, starting with how flipping hot Ariana Madix looks! There’s been a lot of drama (of course), so we’ve been getting a lot of Ariana appearances.
For those following along every night except Wednesday, the biggest villa drama has been Jeremiah and Huda. I was rooting for Huda as a fellow virgo/single mom, but she was giving red flag warnings almost immediately. Personally, good for her for finding love. I couldn’t leave my son for the summer, but everyone has different circumstances. However, the first thing I’m leading with is the fact I’m a single mom because if a dude can’t handle it, that needs to come out FIRST THING.
Her and Jeremiah were instantly lovey-dovey and kind of dicks to the rest of the villa about it. We all saw the crash out coming and it was INTENSE. Between Huda’s exorcist-like backbend when Iris first strutted onto the scene, ending in the closed-door near elimination last night. TELEVISION GOLD.
Some scattered thoughts:
-Ace is running the villa like a ship! I do love his and Chelley’s chemistry, but dude needs to show us some softness now that they are coupled up
-Amaya screaming “We don’t want to do that!” in response to having to vote out one of their fellow islanders took me out. She is class-A entertainment.
-JUSTICE FOR CHARLIE! By far the hottest boy in the villa and he was done dirty.
ICE Protests and Resources for Immigrants ‼️
It’s been really hard to have a sense of normalcy right now with everything that’s been going on. The best way to make a difference and get involved right now (in my opinion) is to pay attention to local politics. I had the pleasure of getting to know Jillian Burgos during the strike and the way she’s been stepping up for the community is truly commendable. Here are some resources she provided following the “No Kings” march and action this weekend.

Real Recipe ⏲️
If you’re looking for a fun recipe to celebrate pride and eliminate the existential dread that comes from living with whiplash1, may I introduce to you Salted Rainbow Chocolate Chip Cookies. We can make this the easy way or the hard way, friends.
Hard Way:
Make sure you have all the ingredients on hand to make “standard” chocolate-chip cookies. Flour, sugar, baking soda, butter, eggs, chocolate chips, a dash of salt. Or you can use this recipe: Sally's Baking Addiction Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Also make sure you have rainbow sprinkles (the “jimmies” kind) and an ice cream scoop.
Easy Way:
Get a mix from the supermarket and justify it by scanning the receipt so your school gets their damn “box tops” points because you are an over-achieving PTA Mom and this is still your damn job. Also remind yourself that you still have a tub of those rainbow sprinkles from the cookie sale you helped out with2 earlier this year. “Those are festive and fun, we could use festive and fun!” you think to yourself.
Halfway through baking the cookies, get a call from work that there’s an emergency you have to put out that will take up the next 4-6 hours of your day. At least you and your ignored kid will have cookies! “Wow, I don’t even need to use the stand mixer!” you’ll marvel aloud. Turns out your inner-rage is all the strength you need to make some dough!
Once the dough is formed per the instructions, toss a shit-ton of sprinkles in and hope for the best. Then wrap the whole thing in plastic and stick it in the fridge because you have to go pick up your kid and/or do some work and/or make some calls and/or pay some bills.
After you remember you were in the middle of baking something (mainly because it’s 90 degrees inside your house with the oven preheating since the A/C isn’t working), use an ice cream scooper to form huge balls of dough and then put them on a parchment-paper lined cookie sheet.
You were probably hoping for a dozen cookies, but whatever number you make is what it’ll be. Toss some more sprinkles on top, and sprinkle on some good salt. You know, the thick and flaky kind.
The oven is supposed to be preheated at 375, but if yours decides to stop heating at 320 for some reason, just go for it! It should take 20 minutes, but it might take 35. You may almost be late to pick up your kid!
TLDR: They turned out really good and were totally worth it
Theater 🎭
My son has been doing theater summer camp and they are putting on their show this weekend! If any local friends are looking for a recommendation, I can’t say enough good things about Conundrum Kids
And in equally exciting “theater news” THEEE Jinx Monsoon will be taking over the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in Cole Escola’s “OH, MARY”… and it’s happening during Virgo season3
I am so excited, I’m already daydreaming about flights to NYC.
Final Thoughts 💭
Did this just make me *like* the King? It definitely made me realize how desperate we all are for a good rom-com right now.
Love the wisdom from my iced tea. Remember Snapple caps? What a simple time.
And you can read the first chapter of my novel now! Thank you for all the wonderful feedback, so far.
"Caught Up in You" Chapter 1
New chapters will be released each Monday for paid subscribers, and on Tuesdays for everyone else! If you’d like early access, please consider subscribing (and helping pay some of my bills!)
Have a great week, everyone! Remember to stay kind and take no sh*t.
Truly, I am so impressed and mortified by the range of these topics 🙃
And they may still be contaminated from the stomach bug an errant toddler passed around
Which also happens to be during my 40th this year
